How to Become a Pirate in ArcheAge

A pirate is a player in ArcheAge that has been repeatedly breaking the law to the extent that even their own faction wants nothing to do with them and kicks them out. Not only that but you will also be removed from your guild and be forced to live as an exile.

You will be unable to communicate with non-pirates through whispering but you can still communicate through family chat, /say and /shouts.  You will also be marked as kill on sight for all NPCs, even neutral guards! You will lose all communication with non-pirates and instead will require an alt to contact your friends in Nuia and Haranya and you will not be able to claim territory or own castles on Auroria. So, ye want to become a pirate?

As a pirate you are free to engage in PvP combat with anyone without gaining crime points. You will no longer be confined to a jail cell unless you are killed on either Nuia or Haranya, in which case you will serve 40 minutes in jail after you die. You will also have access to the Pirate-only island of Growlgate Isle which contains a variety of pirate only content such as quests and items.

ArcheAge takes the meaning of pirate to the full definition. You can join pirate guilds and sail the seas as a group, praying on other sailers and merchant traders. You can attack them, murder them and steal their cargo to turn in for your own reward. If that sounds like an epic experience to you, and it should, then you will enjoy life as a pirate if you don't mind the downsides.

As all other players you can still have a farm or a house but it will need to be located in Auroria for your own safety. Having a farm allows you to grow crops and raise animals and you can still sell them on the auction house to make a steady income, after all you can't make all your money from pillaging!

The materials you gain from a farm can still be used to craft trade packs at specialty workbenches but they will be so difficult to access that it is not really worth the time and effort. You can earn your Gilda Stars from doing what a pirate does best! Patrolling the seas and attacking other players for their trade packs and then turn them in at Freedich Island for a hefty amount of Gilda Stars. As a pirate you can still run dungeons with your pirate friends, it will just be more difficult to get there which is why it is recommended to use teleport scrolls to save you some time.

How do I become a pirate
To become a pirate you need to achieve 3000 infamy points but there are a few ways to accomplish that.

PvP
This is perhaps the most common method of becoming a pirate. You basically just murder people of your own faction in the PvP zones. This will leave bloodstains behind that other players can report you for. These reports will add crime points to your character. This can be achieved either by killing higher level players or by griefing your low level faction players in the level 30+ zones. This method can cause you to spend a lot of time in jail because it is likely that you will also be killed and teleported to a court room to stand trial. If you are found guilty then your crime points are converted to infamy points. If you are found innocent then you will lose infamy points, which isn't helping your cause but this is out of your control.

Uprooting
It is quite common for people to plant "off the grid" crops to try and earn some extra materials/gold on the side. If you find these you can uproot them. This will leave footprints behind that players can report.

Friends
If you have friends then you can just follow the above methods together to do it faster. You can each plant crops and uproot them or you can kill each others mounts as this also accumulates crime points rather fast. Just make sure to be in a PvP zone or it won't be possible.
